Strada has secured a strategic investment from content creator and filmmaker Mark Fischbach, known professionally as Markiplier, providing new capital to accelerate product development and marketing for its peer-to-peer remote technology company plans to use the capital to expand its software with new review and approval tools, remote drive synchronization and enhanced mobile capabilities. Strada also plans marketing initiatives with Fischbach as part of the partnership.
Founded in 2023 by brothers Michael and Peter Cioni, Strada is targeting a longstanding infrastructure challenge for video production teams: giving editors and collaborators remote access to large media files without requiring organizations to upload and maintain those files in centralized cloud storage.
The company’s patented technology instead uses a distributed, peer-to-peer architecture that converts customers’ existing local media storage into a private network accessible by authorized users from other locations. Video teams can access, share, edit and review media stored on local drives while working remotely.
The approach is intended to reduce the time associated with uploading large video files and limit reliance on recurring cloud storage subscriptions. That value proposition is particularly relevant to professional creators and media organizations working with more than 12,000 users globally, according to the company, with customers ranging from independent content creators to media teams within Fortune 500 companies.
Strada co-founder Michael Cioni said the company was created in response to the limitations its founders experienced with cloud-based production workflows, including upload times, workflow complexity and storage expenses. The platform was designed to make use of computers and storage infrastructure customers already own rather than requiring them to duplicate large media libraries in the cloud.
The planned remote drive syncing feature could broaden that model by giving distributed production teams another way to coordinate media stored across locations. New review and approval capabilities are intended to extend Strada further into the production workflow, while additional mobile functionality could make projects accessible across more devices.
The company is also using Fischbach’s investment as part of a broader push for market visibility. Strada will exhibit at the IBC trade show in Amsterdam from September 11 through September 14 as it seeks greater adoption among professional video and media teams.
The strategic relationship gives Strada more than additional capital. Fischbach’s experience producing content with geographically distributed collaborators provides the company with a high-profile user whose workflow reflects the problem Strada is attempting to solve.
As video production becomes increasingly distributed, Strada is positioning its peer-to-peer architecture as an alternative to moving every production asset into centralized cloud infrastructure. The new investment will allow the company to build out that model with additional workflow tools while pursuing a larger share of the professional creator and enterprise media markets.
